During a recent field visit to Chalageri village in Haveri district, Karnataka, Rachana Iyer, Head – CSR, IDFC FIRST Bank, led the engagement with farmers and Gram Sakhis, accompanied by Mr. Ravi Sakhare, Manager - CSR, IDFC FIRST Bank. Their conversations offered valuable insights into on-ground challenges and emerging opportunities within the community. It was during this visit that we witnessed a significant milestone under FIRST IMPACT’s Shwetdhara programme: the Abyantara Farmer Producer Company (FPC) launched its first line of locally produced cattle-feed products. With Amruthdhara Hi-Pro Pellets, Bypass Feed, and Wheat Bran, dairy farmers can now reduce input costs and improve cattle nutrition—strengthening their confidence in collective enterprise. More importantly, these products mark a shift toward self-reliance, enabling rural dairy farmers to create solutions tailored to their own livestock and day-to-day realities. Over 60 dairy farmers, community leaders such as Mrs. Neelamma Hanumanthappa K (President, Chalageri Gram Panchayat), FPC board members Mrs. Jalajakshi (President, Abyantara FPC) and Mrs. Vanitha (BOD, Abyantara FPC), and representatives from our partner NGO BAIF – Karnataka, including Mr. M.N. Kulkarni (State Head), joined us to celebrate this milestone. This launch stands as a testament to how empowered communities, backed with the right support, can build sustainable, locally rooted systems of their own. #IDFCFIRSTBank #IDFCFIRSTBankCSR #FIRSTIMPACT #Shwetdhara
